How TreeTracker Works

Everything you need to know to get the most out of your sponsor tree.

Section 1

What are Projects?

A Project is the top-level container in TreeTracker. Each project has its own completely independent sponsor tree, member list, and permissions. You can create as many projects as you need — for example, one per campaign or product line. When you create a project, you automatically become the root node (the top of the tree) and the project owner. As owner, you have full visibility and control over the entire tree.
Section 2

How the Sponsor Tree Works

The tree is a hierarchy of nodes. Each node represents a person or account. Every node (except the root) has exactly one parent — called their sponsor. When you add a new member, you place them under a specific parent node. That parent becomes their direct sponsor. The chain of sponsors above them is called their upline, and everyone below them is their downline. The tree can go as many levels deep as you need. There is no limit on the number of children per node.
Section 3

What Can You See? (Privacy Rules)

TreeTracker enforces strict visibility rules to protect member privacy: Project Owner: Can see every node in the entire tree. Regular Participant: Can only see: • Their own node • Their direct sponsor (parent node) • Their entire downline (all descendants) Participants cannot see siblings, grandparents, or any other branches outside their subtree. This is enforced server-side — there is no way to guess or enumerate hidden nodes.
Section 4

How to Add Members

There are two ways to add a member to a tree: 1. Direct Creation: If you have write access to a node, you can create a new child node directly under it. Fill in the member's display name and optional details. 2. Invite Link: Generate a unique invite link tied to a specific parent node. Share the link with the new member. When they click it, they log in (or sign up) and confirm their placement. The system automatically creates their node under the correct parent.
Section 5

How Invite Links Work

Invite links are unique, unguessable URLs. Each link is tied to a specific parent node in a specific project. When someone clicks an invite link: 1. They are prompted to log in or sign up if needed. 2. They see a confirmation screen showing who their sponsor will be. 3. They enter their display name and confirm. 4. Their node is created under the intended parent. You can set a maximum number of uses on each invite. Once the limit is reached, it can no longer be used.
Section 6

How Node Claiming Works

Node claiming lets you pre-build the tree with placeholder nodes, then hand each spot to the real person later. As the project owner: 1. Create a node with the member's name as a placeholder. 2. Open that node's Invite tab and click "Generate Claim Link". 3. Send the link to the real person. When the member clicks the claim link: 1. They are prompted to create a Manus account (email only — do not use Google or Apple sign-in). 2. After signing in they see a "Claim Your Node" confirmation screen. 3. They confirm and the node is permanently linked to their account. Once claimed, only the claimer can edit their own node info. The owner can reset a claim at any time from the Invite tab if needed. Important: New users must sign up at manus.im using their email address before clicking the claim link. Google and Apple sign-in are not supported and will result in a "Permission denied" error.
Section 7

Moving / Re-parenting Nodes (Owner Only)

Project owners can move any node to a different parent within the same project. This is useful for reorganizing the tree after structural changes. When a node is moved, its entire subtree moves with it. All closure table entries are updated automatically in a single transaction. Regular participants cannot move nodes — this is an owner-only operation.
Section 8

Sign-Up Requirements for New Members

TreeTracker uses Manus accounts for authentication. New members who do not yet have a Manus account must follow these steps: 1. Go to manus.im and create a free account using their email address. 2. Do NOT use Google, Apple, or other social sign-in options during sign-up — these may cause a "Permission denied" error when returning to the invite page. 3. After creating the account, return to the invite or claim link and click "Sign In to Continue". Members who already have a Manus account can click the invite link and sign in directly without any extra steps.
